About VoltaCore

We build the buffer between sun and society.

Founded by two battery chemists and a grid operator, VoltaCore exists for one reason: renewable power is only as useful as the hours it can be stored.

Founded 2014 · Headquartered in Austin, Texas · 320 people

From lab bench to gigafactory

2014

Three founders, one thesis

VoltaCore incorporates in Austin with seed funding and a 40-cell test rack running around the clock.

2017

First 10 MWh in the field

A Texas co-op takes a chance on our containerized pilot. It is still cycling daily, nine years on.

2020

Gigafactory One opens

2 GWh of annual pack capacity comes online, with cell traceability from powder lot to serial number.

2023

Sodium-ion pilot line

We ship our first sodium-ion cabinets for high-temperature sites where LFP thermal margins run thin.

2026

4.8 GWh and counting

Fleet crosses 4.8 GWh deployed with 99.2% availability — and our first 1 GWh single-site park breaks ground.

Careers & Partnerships

Come build the grid of 2040.

We hire people who sweat cycle-life curves and sleep better knowing the fire test passed. Sound familiar?
